Raptor hood
2023 Ford F-150 Tremor · 5.0L V8
This decision is still open. 2 options are being compared, nothing has been ordered, and no manufacturer has been committed to. Where one option is marked as currently leaning, that's a preference at this stage — not a decision.
What this turns on
Paused, deliberately. The truck's factory hood arrived damaged, and it stays on for now - what to do about it has not been decided. There is no reason to spend on a new hood to get through a winter, and every reason to wait. The choice below gets made when the carbon bodywork lands in spring, because that is when the finish it has to match will actually exist.
Two real options, and they are not the same kind of part. A genuine Ford Raptor hood is the factory panel this conversion is built around. The Anderson Composites piece is a carbon reproduction of its shape. FiberwerX was on this list and has been removed - they do not offer one.
OEM Gen 3 Raptor hood
Ford (OEM)
Researching
On hold until the carbon bodywork arrives in spring
Why this option
The factory panel, with guaranteed fit against the OEM Raptor grille already bought and the ADD bumper it sits beneath. Nothing to fettle and nothing to match - it is the part the rest of this front end was designed around.
Where it currently stands
Heavier than carbon, and the more expensive route if bought new rather than found as a take-off. The carbon panels elsewhere on this truck were chosen for weight and finish, and an OEM hood contributes to neither.
What it actually cost
Not purchased yet — no cost recorded.
Cost, installation notes, and a verdict will be added here once this part is bought and fitted.
Raptor-style carbon hood
Anderson Composites
Researching
On hold until the carbon bodywork arrives in spring
Why this option
Carbon, and consistent with the material language the FiberwerX fenders and bedsides already set. Lighter than the steel panel over the heaviest part of the truck.
Where it currently stands
A reproduction rather than the factory part, so fit against an OEM grille is something to verify rather than assume, and the weave and clear coat have to match panels from a different manufacturer. That match is the same open question the fenders and bedsides raised.
