Passenger exterior mirror, 402A feature set, power-fold with side camera
ChosenFord (OEM)
Delivered and on the truck 14 Oct 2026 — chrome cap until the white covers arrive
Why this option
Has to match the full 402A equipment group. Mirrors on this truck carry signal, puddle lamp, power fold, heat, blind-spot monitoring and a side camera depending on the package — fitting a lower-spec mirror would quietly delete factory features and break the goal of preserving what the truck came with.
Trade-offs
Correct-spec OEM mirrors are expensive, and matching the exact feature set is what made finding the right part slow. Ford's service number is ML3Z-17682-JAPTM (power-fold, memory, side camera), worked out from the engineering number on the damaged mirror's label and dealer catalog listings rather than Ford's VIN lookup; the wire count on the mirror connector, checked against the workshop manual, confirms the power-fold and memory functions. The unit bought is a used OEM mirror with the same feature set and a chrome cap, not a new JAPTM. Whether everything works through the truck-side door harness has not been confirmed yet — a mirror that matches on paper is no use if the harness behind it was damaged in the impact. OEM is the standing policy for collision repair on this truck; aftermarket copies were priced during the search and passed over, because matching the factory part, side camera included, is the requirement. The white covers are aftermarket, a small exception to that policy, because a passenger-only cover wasn't available.

Listed at $795 on eBay; a $75 eBay coupon brought it to $720. Tax was charged on the full $795. The replacement came with a chrome cap, and no passenger-only white cover was available, so a pair of aftermarket white covers was ordered on eBay ($65.55, 12 Oct). They have not arrived yet.
