FlowFX direct-fit muffler

Chosen

Flowmaster

Installed

Ordered 9 Oct 2026 — on the truck by 14 Oct

Part number: 718172

Why this option

The brief was a slightly deeper, slightly louder exhaust that would not wake the neighbors in the morning: sound first, then value, then performance. The FlowFX replaces the factory muffler and over-axle pipes and reuses the factory tailpipes, tips and hangers, so the resonator stays, and the new tip stays with it.

Trade-offs

It is bought for sound, not power. It is 409 stainless rather than the T-304 Borla uses,. What it actually sounds like gets written up once the truck is driving.

Sport cat-back exhaust, 5.0L Tremor

Not selected

Corsa

Why this option

The system the question started with, and the sound reference the muffler was chosen against.

Why it wasn't chosen

Value. It is a complete cat-back at several times the price of a muffler swap, and with sound the priority, a muffler swap alone was expected to get most of the way there. Whether it does gets written up once the truck is driving.

S-Type mid-section, 60731

Not selected

Borla

Why this option

A mid-section for the Tremor's bumper exits that, like the FlowFX, reuses the factory tailpipes. Borla builds it in T-304 stainless and backs it with its Million-Mile Warranty; the FlowFX is 409 stainless.

Why it wasn't chosen

Price. At roughly two and a half times the cost of the FlowFX, it lost on value, which ranked ahead of the step up in stainless grade and Borla's warranty here.
