Addictive Desert Designs

Ordered 13 Sep 2026 — expected early to mid November

Why this option

ADD is the preferred manufacturer for this build - designed, built and tested in Chandler, Arizona, with .120-inch wall steel across the Gen 3 Raptor range. The model bought is the Pro Plus Bolt-On, not the Pro Bolt-On this page previously named. ADD's Pro Plus page states it retains the OEM parking sensors and all OEM drive-assist features, while its Pro Bolt-On page warns that fitting that bumper's optional light hoop can switch off reverse braking assist and front parking sensors. That matters more here than the $100 difference: adaptive cruise, front parking sensors and the 360 camera all have to survive the conversion. Configured without the winch kit, without the intercooler kit, without center lights and without top lights.

Trade-offs

Adaptive cruise needs ADD's relocation bracket, bought alongside at $255.54 and logged as its own decision. The Pro Plus has a fully welded front hoop with integrated light mounts; it was ordered with no top lights and no center lights, and Diode Dynamics SS5 pods went in the center role instead. ADD's product page also says this bumper obstructs the front camera on equipped vehicles and does not retain the factory skid plate or fog lights. With the 360 camera expected to survive the conversion, that and fitment across the Raptor conversion stay open items until test-fit.

Gen 3 Mojave Bolt-On Front Bumper

Not selected

SVC Offroad

Why this option

A genuinely strong independent alternative — USA-built, a cleaner and less busy design than most of the Raptor bumper market, bolt-on without cutting the frame, and about $300 cheaper at roughly $2,699.

Why it wasn't chosen

The runner-up, and it stayed close to the end. SVC's frame-cut Mojave variants are engineered around the EcoBoost Raptor — their intercooler requirement is irrelevant on a naturally aspirated 5.0L, but it signals what the line was designed for. What actually decided it was the matching ADD rear: one manufacturer front and rear keeps the truck consistent, and splitting them to save roughly $300 was not worth it here.

Factory Gen 3 Raptor front bumper

Not selected

Ford (OEM / take-off)

Why this option

Guaranteed fitment with every factory sensor, camera, and adaptive cruise function intact, and no relocation bracket needed. The cheapest path if a clean take-off turns up.

Why it wasn't chosen

No meaningful approach-angle gain, no integrated light mounting, and none of the protection a steel prerunner bumper exists to provide. It would have kept every sensor working without a relocation bracket, which was the one real argument for it.
