Front left and right steel fenders
ChosenSteel replacement — brand not recorded
Passenger side hung and wrapped; driver side not yet fitted
Why this option
Temporary steel fenders to put the front of the truck back together while the FiberwerX exposed-carbon fenders are still in production. These are stand-ins, not the finished bodywork.
Trade-offs
A deliberate exception to this build's own rule about not replacing the same part twice, and the only body panel on the truck that is genuinely temporary - the bumpers, grille and lighting all carry through to phase two unchanged. The carbon fenders have a long lead time and the truck needs front bodywork to be roadworthy in the meantime. They are being wrapped in VViViD gloss white vinyl to match the rest of the truck rather than painted (the passenger side is done; the driver side waits until it is on the truck, where wrapping should be easier), which keeps them saleable: they come off when the carbon arrives in spring and go on to another truck rather than into a scrap pile. The cost of buying twice is real but it is not the full price of the panels. The wrap job itself did not come out well, so a used set of Rough Country SF1 fender flares was bought to hide it.

Fenders from two eBay sellers on 2 Sep 2026: left $190.27, right $186.33. A return was opened on each, and each seller offered a partial refund to keep the panel instead ($30 and $40 before tax), which was taken. With a $22.65 share of that order's $37.27 coupon (split by line value across the items kept), the pair came to $283.95 before tax. Part also includes two rolls of VViViD+ gloss white wrap ($119.98, Amazon, 12 Sep); the Rough Country SF1 flares, matte black, bought used through Amazon Resale ($303.38, 9 Oct); and the Tremor fender vent emblem for the passenger side, from eBay ($85 plus $10 shipping, 19 Sep).
